Description

We are Onward, a leading provider of quality and affordable homes for rent, shared ownership and sale across the North West. Proud to do so much more than just provide a roof over our customers’ heads, we own and manage over 35,000 homes and are one of the largest registered providers of social housing based solely in the North West of England. We have a clear vision ‘To make a positive difference in the communities we serve’ and our many ambitions include plans to build 500 new homes a year.

It’s an exciting time to join Onward. We have just raised £215m of investment through our first bond issue, securing an exceptional A1 credit rating from Moody’s. The investment will underpin our business plan for the years ahead, as we deliver considerable social, environmental and economic impact. In 2020 we demonstrated our strong financial and governance credentials by retaining the top G1 and V1 ratings from the Regulator of Social Housing.

We are now looking for a new Chair who strongly identifies with our purpose, ambitions and values, and who will bring outstanding leadership and chairing skills to our Board. This is an immensely rewarding opportunity to work closely with our Executive and non-executive Directors, influencing the future success of Onward and the communities that we serve.

Our new Chair will be a clear strategic thinker, financially literate and a strong team-builder. Energetic and ambitious, you’ll demonstrate commitment to our social purpose by utilising your strategic leadership experience from complex, regulated organisations. With an inclusive style that values diversity of thought and collaborative decision-making, you’ll be politically astute and a first-class communicator. The minimum time commitment is expected to be one day per week.

Should you then wish to discuss the opportunity further, please contact Nick Roberts on 07393 013697 or Tim Hills on 07393 011130 at GatenbySanderson.

Closing date: 9:00am on Tuesday 4th May.
