We are Onward, a leading provider of quality and affordable homes for rent, shared ownership and sale across the North West. Proud to do so much more than just provide a roof over our customers’ heads, we own and manage over 35,000 homes and are one of the largest registered providers of social housing based solely in the North West of England. We have a clear vision ‘To make a positive difference in the communities we serve’ and our many ambitions include plans to build 500 new homes a year.

It’s an exciting time to join Onward. Earlier this year we raised £215m of investment through our first bond issue, securing an exceptional A1 credit rating from Moody’s. The investment will underpin our business plan for the years ahead, as we deliver considerable social, environmental and economic impact. In 2020 we demonstrated our strong financial and governance credentials by retaining the top G1 and V1 ratings from the Regulator of Social Housing.

This is a high-profile and very visible leadership position at Onward which reports to, and deputises for, the Executive Director of Finance. Our new Director of Finance will lead on all aspects of the Group’s accounting, business partnering, payroll and financial systems, providing inspirational leadership to a team of 49 which includes three direct reports. The Director will also attend committee and external meetings as required and be a key member of our organisation-wide Senior Leadership Team.

With strong business acumen and excellent interpersonal skills, you’ll demonstrate impressive career achievements from complex and fast-paced, regulated environments. Strong stakeholder management skills are essential, as is the ability to continually identify opportunities to improve financial performance and value for money. Your strategic and results-focused approach will be a good fit with Onward’s high-performing culture, as we continue to grow and make a lasting difference to peoples’ lives.

This is a career-enhancing opportunity for an ambitious and qualified finance professional to help us capitalise on the many opportunities available to us. Onward is committed to being an open, diverse and inclusive organisation in every aspect of our work. Should you wish to discuss the opportunity further, please contact our advising consultants at GatenbySanderson: Nick Roberts on 07393 013697 or Delicia Coutinho on 07741 264 892. Closing date: 9:00am Monday 24th January 2022.
